Journey to the Worlds 2013 – The Journey

In this video, I take just a minute to talk about my Journey to the World Long Drive Championship.

I explain why I’m chronicling my activities as I prepare, which I’ve been doing for a couple of years. These Journey segments are always the most popular posts on my blog and are read by thousands of golfers around the world.

My goal in producing these videos is to take you behind the scenes and show you what it takes to excel at golf. I talk about how to set proper expectations, and about the difference between ‘practice’ and ‘training.’

I’ve been extremely fortunate to win two Championship titles. I can tell you without a doubt that it is my preparation that has made all the difference.

HOW TO BE READY WHEN YOUR CHANCE COMES

We see the guys on the PGA Tour playing great golf each week and taking home big pay checks. But these Journey videos are about the things you don’t see. They are about grinding it out on the range. About putting in the hours. This is about the sweaty, dirty stuff you have to do so that when your moment comes … you are ready.

I hope you will continue with me on my Journey. I’ll be sharing a lot more about specific practice and training techniques, training aids I use, and just as importantly – the mental preparation and thought process behind my training.

I’m confident you’ll find several ways to improve your time on the range just by watching. When you do, I know your game will get better much faster.

TAKE AWAYS

1. Set your expectations on things you can control: the way you train, and the way you compete. Don’t set expectations on results.
2. Training is different than practice. When you practice you work on your swing mechanics. When you train you work on improving your results with the swing you have.
