This Journey video is a bit more personal because I share one of my missions: to help grow the game of golf. In fact, I make the case that if you are someone who loves the game of golf it’s everybody’s responsibility to help grow the game.
I happen to be a big fan of The First Tee. In today’s video I’m out to have a little fun playing in an event for The First Tee, and I took a moment to interview the Director of our local chapter.
As Dan says in the interview, The First Tee makes the game more than a game for junior. The First Tee teaches life skills as a part of teaching golf, and helps juniors understand how to have a positive impact on the community.
Getting involved is simple – for juniors and adults. Visit www.TheFirstTee.Org and find the “Programs Locations” section on the map. You’ll find the chapter closest to you, with a link to their website. I hope you’ll find room in your heart and your schedule to help.
P.S. October is Long Drive month on The Golf Channel. The ReMax World Long Drive Championship will be aired October 30. Every Wednesday The Golf Channel is running a special program on the final 8 competitors – like this one with Carl Wolter and their Journey. I hope you’ll be able to catch the shows.
P.P.S. The LDA (Long Drivers of America) also does more than host the biggest long drive show in golf. Since its inception the LDA has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Autism, improving the lives of all affected by the disease through treatment, education, research, and advocacy.
Eric, good to see you are involved with the first. My 9 yr. old granddaughter has been involved for 3 years and it has been great for her. If you are ever in the Connecticut area we have an excellent facility and I,m sure the kids would love to see you put on an exhibition for them. Keep up the good work, Good luck..Charlie Rome
