It’s never been easy for golfers to explain the athletic side of the sport. Mostly this is because athletes ride carts throughout the golf course to get from one hole to the other. US male adults consider golf to be the game they play the most as it beats out soccer, softball and tennis.
According to Allison Aubrey of the NPR, the game involves big swings to drive the ball and “a bit of yoga” if one considers the torso movement and balancing.
The World Golf Foundation even goes to say that golfers who walk an 18-hole course will walk 5 miles and burn up to 2,000 calories.
I’d say that’s a lot, but the amount you burn while riding a cart? You’d be surprised reading about that here (we’re honest, it IS a large amount of burn)!
