Hit High Chip Shots

Hit High Chip Shots

When do you need high chip shots?

Imagine that you’ve got a huge bunker or fairway right in front of you. It’s just a few more yards down to the green. Therefore, a good chip is needed, a higher one that must ensure you go the distance and the ball must halt enough near the hole or luckily, into a birdie.

I’ve got a great training technique you could use for practice to ensure you get those high chip shots when you need them.

First, take out your sand wedge. Take your normal swing position. Now, move the ball position just to the left of your belt buckle.

Now, open your clubface and keep your hands leaning forward at the back of the ball. The hands must be a bit forward of the ball for this to work.

Now, create solid contact with the clubface against the ball as you move towards impact.

This guarantees enough spin to propel your ball as it lands from a high shot to avoid obstacles in your way and nearer to the hole giving you a better chance at making par.

This particular drill requires consistent practice to ensure success. If you practice more and correctly, you will have success with it. Good luck!
